Our new mixed case includes:
Brut Rosé NV No.2 – 2 bottles
No 2 is based on the 2018 harvest, a watershed year in the UK, with an almost faultless season of record low rainfall and record levels of sunshine and heat, giving the rare combination of generous yields and great ripeness.
Brut Reserve NV No7 – 2 bottles
No 7 is based on 2018, a watershed year that gave us a stunning summer and provided fruit of exceptional health and ripeness. No 7 displays many similar traits to all the 2018 releases, showing a juicy, soft and friendly structure that has a lovely purity that you only seem to get when the fruit is properly ripe. Once again this wine comes from plots from every part of the vineyard and so is the best representation of the whole site. Combining this with 20% reserve wines you really start to see the complexity of the different soil types and how they show up in all the wines.
Blanc de Noirs 2018 – 2 bottles
It’s been a while since we’ve had this wine to sell and after the 2015 blazed a trail with both competitions and critics alike, it’s great to have this wine back. Unlike the 2015, this release is 100% Pinot Noir. This decision was taken to hone in on one particular part of the vineyard, where clay and chalk combine to give a complete wine without the need for blending varieties. It takes time to understand your vineyard and what areas consistently give the best results, but our knowledge has come a long way since the early years.
What is noticeable about this wine is how elegant, restrained and fresh it is, despite coming from such a hot year. It certainly has a softness that gives a hint of its birth year, but the acid is still evident giving me great confidence in its long term ageing ability. It has that lovely blackcurrant character that was present on the 2015 and we increased the barrel fermentation element to 47%, which gives it a lovely texture and weight.
