Our Blanc de Blancs 2021 is a wine we’re particularly proud of. Made entirely from Chardonnay grown on our chalky soils, the lower yields gave us beautifully concentrated fruit, with some fantastic autumn sunshine helping us achieve the ripeness we needed after a challenging growing season.
After four years of ageing, the wine has developed beautifully. There’s a little less citrus now and more dried fruit, with the signature hazelnut and almond notes beginning to show through. 2021 was a very different vintage to 2018 and 2020, yet we’re finding some lovely similarities between them, which is a good sign that what we’re doing in the vineyard is helping us to build wines that really reflect where they come from.
We’re delighted with how this one has turned out and think the Blanc de Blancs 2021 can proudly stand alongside what has come before — a wine with plenty of character, but still very much true to its origins.
